In both instances, the businessman’s lack of conscience and the poor’s lack of ambition, the psychological barriers that must be overcome are high…..So this I know to be true: the story becomes good only when the businessmen providing the opportunities cross paths with the poor taking advantage of them. Any discussion of the morality of profit should come with a discussion of the morality of poverty.

(Here we discuss the 4-Quadrant Grid where the y-axis represents the Morality of Poverty and the x-axis represents the Morality of Profit, producing the following four quadrants : Tragedy of Profit, Tragedy of Poverty, and Tragedy of both Profit and Poverty, and the Prosperity Quadrant.)

Prosperity is the final destination. Not only must businessmen be careful that good business sense does not turn into greed but also must the poor be watchful that they actively look, not just wait, for opportunities. Two perspectives must merge into one unstoppable force. One, businessmen must resist the compelling addiction of feeding only his bank account. Instead, he must insist on creating more opportunities for all because, by serving the needs of many, he ensures his own. He must learn to go to the right of the x-axis, the morality of profit. Two, the poor must cure the mindset of succumbing to the hopelessness of his situation. Instead he must persist on dreaming, studying, and working hard and saving for the future, however painful it becomes, because no one else can do it better for him. He must learn to go higher on the y-axis, the morality of poverty. Each factor is necessary but, sadly by itself, not sufficient. One cannot be without the other. Furthermore, they must infect others by their examples. And when they succeed, their story must be told and retold.
