Apparently, many have gone down the same path … but have been seduced by the “profit monster” who lies in wait for us all and will slowly get his hooks in us if we are not careful.  Today there are two such stories in the news that are seemingly unrelated, but which could be linked together under the heading of, “Profit:  How much is too much?”  One is the story of Toyota and the run-away accelerator, and the other is the story of Anthem Blue Cross and the run-away profits.  At a time when many are dropping their health insurance because they can no longer afford it, Anthem Blue Cross is seeking to raise their rates in California up to 39%.  This after profits last year of nearly $5 billion.  And Toyota admitted today that in stepping up production in recent years their “priorities had become confused.”
