A core ethical value is becoming an us. There is a place for independence and individuality – that’s how this nation was built, and it would be damaging to take away anyone’s unique identity. Interdependence is a core value we must meet if our economy will survive. Living just for ourselves doesn’t work anymore. We must question whether individual ambition and hard work is really what makes some people wealthy while individual laziness and failure is what makes others live in poverty.
